In a few short weeks, my life will be dominated by working full time and attending grad school part time... basically leaving me no time. Of course, before that all transpires, I have a "Last Hurrah" trip planned to get in as much relaxation, travel adventure, and photographic moments ahead of embarking on a new academic adventure. Or at least until I get to the point where I am able to enroll in the travel abroad classes! While not my first travel with this project (see: Kentucky and San Francisco), Hawaii will be the farthest I've traveled with photography on the mind and the climate will be notably tropical! That being said, given the recent tropical storm/hurricane, it makes me pretty concerned that it will rain at some point, which will be an added challenge to keep my equipment protected. Hilariously enough, I had a great opportunity to practice photography in the rain last weekend with a freak thunderstorm that struck while I was at the San Diego Safari Park. In addition to the lighting & exposure adjustments necessary with cloud cover, the experience also underscored the need for rain protection for my camera so I can still take pictures in the rain.
I love shooting landscapes and animals, especially capturing their whimsical expressions and antics. We'll see how I fare with portraiture next week, as I've been asked to take some engagement photos!
